If you have a PC then there are many things you can do to speed up a computer here are some for software. Computer Speed

Software

Tip 1) Microsoft Windows can be fine tuned in many ways to increase speed. For example in Control Panel/System/Advanced (Windows XP) there is Performance tab. Here you select or de-select different options. Un-tick all of them if you wish for the PC to be faster. Also you can increase the Virtual Memory. This is an option also in Control Panel.

Tip 2) If you click Start/Run and type "msconfig" then click open. You will see a Start-up Tab on the top bar. Click on this and you will see allot of tick boxes. If you un-tick all of these and restart your computer. You will find your computer speed increases by an incredible amount. What this is doing is turning off all the programs when windows starts up. you might find you do want some of them ticked. You can play around until you get the right programs you want.

Tip 3) Only install programs on your computer if you need to have them. The less programs you have installed the better.

Tip 4) Clear up disk space on your computer and uninstall windows programs as you will find this will make some difference. To uninstall windows programs go into Control Panel and click "Add Remove Programs". Careful of removing important programs and one you do want.

Tip 5) If using Microsoft Explorer. Try not to keep opening new browsers as each time a browser is opened in Windows XP it uses more memory which unless using a program or restarting the computer you cannot get back. The computer gradually runs out of memory and will slow the computer down.

Tip 6) Run a software called Ad-Aware or equivalent which you can download off www.download.com this will clean up and doggy programs running in the memory which will speed up the computer.
